Supporting clean energy. Building community.

Fostering Local Investment In Community Energy Projects

There is a growing interest in renewable energy in the United States. Yet most renewable energy projects are not financed by local investors, but by Wall Street. The Community Energy Exchange was incorporated as a means to provide another way forward.

Through an online platform, community members will be able to directly finance clean energy projects installed in their region. By partnering with energy developers, investors become partial owners of renewable energy systems, take advantage of government tax rebates, and earn stable, low risk returns - while helping support the development of a green economy.

Facilitating local investment is not an easy task. Federal and state regulations are heavily weighed toward supporting investment in multi-national corporations. The Community Energy Exchange is in the process of navigating these regulations, initiating a pilot project in Burlington Vermont, and building the cyber-infrastructure to manage financial transactions.
